RealClearPolitics: California Higher Education Bubble

California Higher Education’s Hollow Core:

More menacing to higher education in California is educators’ adoption of curricula, classroom pedagogy, and limitations on free speech that fly in the face of liberal education’s fundamental requirements. These practices also fly in the face of public opinion.

STEM students have long been complaining about having to fulfill far more rigorous academic requirements than liberal arts or the soft/social sciences. But the UC STEM programs now take this to an even worse extreme, driving the best & brightest science loving students into business school. They don’t teach or encourage exploration. They screen. I got mine; screw you.

Look for some great business minds coming out of California. Maybe a few genius scientists, and a lot of cranky elitists.

This is part of the bubble, too.
